Pursuant to the California Coastal Act, the University of California (UC) Santa Barbara has prepared and submitted a Notice of Impending Development (NOID) for the after-the-fact authorization of the East Bluff Fence Relocation Project.

The Santa Barbara campus relocated the fence at the East Bluff between UCEN Road and Parking Lot 6 to the edge of the Lagoon Road curb, due to significant bluff erosion and concerns for public safety. The fence is approximately 466 lineal feet in length and comprises of 4-feet tall wooden fence posts and rails and black chain link fencing. Post holes measuring between 18-24 inches in depth have been dug to ensure the stability of the wooden fence posts. The fence relocation has closed off access to the dirt path on the east side of Lagoon Road. Public access will remain on the sidewalk on the west side of Lagoon Road.

The Project staff report is available for public review on the Current Projects page, under the Main Campus tab.
