Amended Notice
Changes to the Prior Notice are indicated in bold italic underlined text and deletions in italic strikethrough text.
Pursuant to the California Coastal Act, the University of California (UC) Santa Barbara has prepared and submitted a Notice of Impending Development (NOID) for the removal and replacement of four (4) mature river redgum (Eucalyptus camaldulensis) trees along the boundary of the campus and Santa Barbara Airport on the north side of Henry T. Yang Drive, within the North Bluffs restoration area.
The request to remove the subject eucalyptus trees comes from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) via staff at Santa Barbara Airport. The four trees would be cut down to grade and the stumps would be left in place. Twelve (12) replacement oak trees would be planted approximately 10 feet from the bluff edge along the fence line behind Henley Gate north of the Cheadle Center Student Greenhouse, east of Los Carneros Road, and south of Henry T. Yang Drive. The work will take place after September 15, 2026.
The Project staff report is available for public review on the Current Projects page, under the Main Campus tab.
